I’m a Celebrity 2022 contestants: Confirmed cast line-up

Falling at the final hurdle was Mike Tindall MBE who finished in 4th place but was greeted by his loving wife Zara Tindall - the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal - after he crossed the bridge to leave the show.

We have now seen Mike join the likes of Seann Walsh, Chris Moyles, Babatúndé Aléshé, and Boy George as departed contestants from the show.

They have followed in the footsteps of Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, A Place in the Sun's Scarlette Douglas, and Loose Women anchor Charlene White, the last of whom became the first person to be sent home.

Of course, Charlene was not the first contestant to depart the camp this year as former Love Island star Olivia Attwood was forced to leave due to a medical reasons.

As we wait to see who will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle in 2022, here's everything you need to know about this year's line-up and their jungle journeys so far.

Matt Hancock MP

Age: 43

Matt Hancock, the former Secretary of State for Health and Social Affairs who was thrust into front-line politics during the COVID-19 pandemic, entered the I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 camp as a late arrival.

The news of Hancock's entrance split viewers – and indeed his fellow MPs – down the middle and, after agreeing to enter the jungle, he lost the Conservative party whip for being a sitting MP.

However, Matt has been quick to attempt to explain why he chose to sign up to the popular reality show.

“Lots of people have a view on me from being Health Secretary in the pandemic dealing with some very difficult issues, but that’s not the whole story," he explains.

"I am looking forward to throwing myself into it all like I do everything in life. You can’t hide anything in the jungle, you see somebody warts and all.”

Jill Scott MBE

Age: 35

Job: Footballer

Lioness Jill Scott signed up for season 22.

She was part of the England squad which won the 2022 Women's Euros, and announced her retirement from the game shortly after that historic win.

The midfielder joined the England women's team in 2006 and also played for clubs including Sunderland, Everton and Manchester City over the course of her impressive sporting career.

“I have got experience of going into unknown situations when I have joined different teams,” she says. “But this is completely going into the unknown!"

She added: “I haven’t done any preparation. How can you prepare for something like this? I am not going to suddenly climb up the tallest building I see and stand on top of it!”

Owen Warner

Age: 23

Job: Actor

Owen Warner is part of this year's line-up.

The 23-year-old actor joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2018 as Romeo Nightingale, the long-lost son of James Nightingale. He has been romantically linked to a handful of famous faces including former co-star Stephanie Davis and Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry.

He is friends with Hollyoaks co-star and former I'm A Celebrity contestant Malique Thompson-Dwyer, and appeared on spin-off show Extra Camp to support him back in 2018.

“I still can’t believe I am actually going to be in Australia doing I’m a Celebrity,” says the actor. “It’s not sunk in yet and it feels surreal.”

Mike Tindall MBE - 4th place

Job: Former rugby player

Mike Tindall has been signed up as the show's first royal contestant.

“It is sinking in now that I am taking part,” Mike says.

Speaking of his pal and former contestant James Haskell, he added: “I am ready to rumble! I have been asked on numerous occasions to take part. The timing was right this year and Hask (James) did the show and he had been talking about it.”

Seann Walsh - 5th place

Age: 36

Job: Comedian

Comedian Seann Walsh joined Matt as the second of two new arrivals entering the main camp on Wednesday 9th November.

And the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, who hit the headlines after he shared a kiss with dance partner Katya Jones, said he wanted to take part to show viewers the real him.

The star says it was actually his partner Grace that convinced him in the end.

“Grace is the main reason why I am doing I’m a Celebrity,” reveals Seann. “As you can imagine I was very scared after the last time I was on a big show because the fallout was not something you would want to go back to.

"Grace talked me into doing it. She convinced me it was the wrong attitude to have not doing it because I feared what people would think, but to do it because I would have a wonderful time.”

Chris Moyles - 6th place

Age: 48

Job: Presenter

Television presenter and radio host Chris Moyles has joined the 2022 line-up.

"Some people say if something scares you, then do it,” explains the broadcaster. “But I am a firm believer you shouldn’t scare yourself! I am a big fan of my own comfort zone, too.

"I am petrified of heights and getting into camp will be a massive challenge for me. Even that rickety rope bridge makes my heart start going. I have never jumped out of a plane or walked out on a plank on a high rise building before and I know I have got to suck it all up."

Babatunde Aléshé - 7th place

Age: 34

Job: Comedian and presenter

Babatunde Aléshé is a stand-up comedian, who you might also recognise from his TV roles in shows like New Tricks, Waking the Dead and EastEnders. He also hosts the Throwback Throwdown podcast for the BBC.

You will also have spotted him on Celebrity Gogglebox, where he appears alongside pal and fellow comedian Mo Gilligan to chat about the week's best TV moments.

“I am going to see what happens but I know I will be doing a lot of screaming for sure! I am not looking forward to any trials but in terms of the one I am dreading the most, I saw one where someone was lying in a box and they put things into the box like snakes and mice. Now that would freak me out. I think I will lose it!” Babatunde says.

Boy George - 8th place

Age: 61

Job: Singer

Culture Club's Boy George is swapping the stage for the jungle this year.

On signing up for season 22, Boy George says: "I watch I’m A Celebrity every year and I had to think long and hard about this. But I feel like I am in a very fertile creative moment in my life. I am in a moment of rediscovery of who I am as a person, artist and older man and I feel like I do make a lot of effort to be in pop culture."

According to Metro, Boy George will be receiving $1 million (£879,000) to take part in the show – the biggest paycheck in the show's history. "It’s beyond exciting that we’ve secured Boy George," an inside told the publication. "It’s been a long time since we had a huge global star film the show and he will no doubt draw viewers."

Sue Cleaver - 9th place

Age: 59

Job: Actor

Swapping the cobbles for the jungle, Sue Cleaver is best known for her role as Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw and has appeared on the soap since 2000.

"Doing I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is never really something I considered doing before,” explains the Soap Queen. “But the pandemic happened and then this year, I have just turned 59 and so I decided for my 59th, I was going to shake things up a bit."

Scarlette Douglas - 10th place

Age: 32

Job: TV presenter

A Place in the Sun presenter is part of this year's line-up.

If I were crowned Queen of the jungle, it would be such a big moment for me,” says Scarlette. “I think I would lose it! I have always worked hard but for whatever reason some people have doubted me. And so, if I were to win this show, it would be for everyone who questioned me, tried to break me, or put me down. I don’t know why they do but I keep showing that I can make it and be better than anyone imagined. It’s so exciting to be part of this series and I was in shock when I got the call from ITV. This programme is always something I have wanted to do as I like to test myself. It’s the cherry on the icing on the cake.”

Charlene White - 11th place

Age: 42

Job: Presenter

Broadcaster Charlene White is best known for presenting ITV News, and made history in 2014 as the first Black woman to present the channel's News at 10.

On signing up for the ITV show, she says: "There aren’t that many opportunities to have when you get older and it will be nice to see if I can do this. I’ve given birth to two kids in quick succession, survived that and lived to tell the tale! So, I feel it’s now right to take on another big challenge.”

Olivia Attwood - departed

Age: 31

Job: Presenter

Olivia Attwood was the first contestant to depart from the show this year.

She was forced to quit the jungle after just 24 hours.

A show spokesman explained: "As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks. Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she'll be very much missed on the show.”

Ahead of her appearance on the show, Olivia said: "Being part of I’m A Celebrity still hasn’t sunk in yet and when I first got the call to take part, I didn’t really believe it! It felt surreal because taking part in the jungle is the absolute pinnacle. It’s the crème de la crème of all shows and obviously I didn’t have to think about it. I said yes immediately!" she says.

Olivia was hoping to show a different side to herself, adding: "One of the things that will be nice will be to show a different side to me. I think people think I am high maintenance and I will struggle without make-up and nails but I am not that bothered and I think that might surprise people. I am happy to muck in."
